NO unfortunately this is not a success story ( not yet at least) I couldnt go out yesterday morning so I headed out for a night hunt. I was pleasantly surprised when we pulled up to only see 2 other cars hunting in the area ( usually 5 or 6) On the walk out I didnt see any other guys hunting yet again another pleasant surprise. I got to withing a 1/4 mile of my stand and my wifes ground blind to see a new hang on stand not 100 yards from my wifes spot, wasn there 6 days ago, but at least it was unoccupied. I walked the remaining 1/4 mile to my stand without seeing anything else. Sat and hunted, I saw 3 different deer all heading down the same path at about 60 yards , no luck calling them in 1st was a spike, 2nd and 3rd together apppears to be another spike ( yearling I think) and a doe but didnt get a good look at her. not long after they get out of sight I hear the distinct sound of an arrow thumping something from that direction. around 630pm, I find out later that 3 guys slipped in behind me all about 75 yards apart between me and my brother, the guy who shot missed, found his arrow 5 ft up a small tree, guess he got buck fever, the second deer was a small 4 pt with 3 on one side from what he tells me. Talk to one of the other guys , he shot a doe this morning and shot a 5 pt this evening but is leaving it because he believes he rump shot it.  So 3 shots 1 doe and two on immature bucks and that was opening day on a tract of land probably no bigger than 40 acres with over 9 people hunting on it. Just thought I would share what a typical day on state Land in Michigan is like. Compared to other counties in Michigan this is not that bad. All in all not a bda day saw 3 deer all I believe were bucks Hope some of them make it through til next year
