Guys I have a late 80's Benelli M1 with the factory 7 rd ext (not removable) and the 20in IC choked barrel with rifle sights. I have used buckshot for deer hunting with hounds. My question is I am thinking about having the barrel threaded for choke tubes so I can use it's as a turkey gun and still use it for other hunting. Is the barrel long enough for turkey hunting and has anybody ever had any gun work by Gobbler guns? Thanks ahead of time.

That barrel is long enough. If unplugged Check your mag capacity restrictions in your state(if any) If threading you may need to double check barrel thickness by gunsmith. I believe there may be a thinwall procedure but dont know if it would work,,that is definitely a g smith project. You would be good to go on that gun without a choke if you got killer shells..but patterning check will need to be run.

20" is plenty long enough. You will need to make a long plug if your state requires it. (CA does). Otherwise once you get it tapped for choke tubes you'll be in business.

If you even have the thought in your mind you know the answer should be YES. I like a longer tube, but 20 inches should be plenty. Plus the add shell capacity will help out if the Turkeys team up and try to attack you. :newmascot:

Thanks for the replies, this helps me make up my mind. It did come with a factory plug that you can actually put in or take out with out removing the magazine cap.

The plug not a problem.  Just get you a dowel rod and cut it.  You have less then 3 bucks in it.

Thanks again, anybody use the federal Heavyweight load #7's. My other M1 really cycles the federal shells well, dove and duck loads.
