A youth Division

Letting our kids participate in the OGF contest came up in the GOATS team discussion. We didn't realize there was no way that any of our younger children can play along. If we read the rules right they can't sign up as a OGF member until 16 and they are required to have 50 post. That disqualifies all our younger children.

I was just wondering how many members would be interested in letting our young hunters in or having a youth division? I'm talking kids under 16 or even younger. I know many members are mentoring kids and grand-kids and would gladly give up time to help the kids join in the fun.

Shannon probably has good reasons for the age limits and maybe it's a legal issues. I was just wondering. what do you say Shannon. I'll go ahead and apologize ahead for opening a can of worms ;D

The Roaring 20s have had the same discussion.
So yes we have some interest.

I think it'd be great.  My daughter has been asking me for years how she could participate. She's 12 now, and doesn't (and won't) have her own account on here anytime soon, but I don't see why the parents couldn't post pics and scores for them in a separate division.  Funny enough, she makes me score all of her birds every year and outscores me every single year since she was 8.

I love the idea of sharing hunts with our kids, was one of the most rewarding hunts I have had having my son take his first Gobbler. I would hope the member/ mentor would allow the youth to at least post up the story in their own words!?!

I know my boys would both love to participate if we had a youth competition. Like TWyatt. Mine make me score their birds too.

Even better idea Jeff.  We can post their pics and scores, and then let them write the story.  I know my daughter would LOVE that.  She already makes me call everyone in my entire contact list when she kills a bird so that she can share the story.
