This one is done out of Mahogany with Black Locust lid. The wood burning is done in the old style burning that Gibson liked to do on his calls. I've been asked why I call it Old Style burning? I use a few different nail sizes to do the burning, I heat them up on an old stove and use a needle nose pliers to to the burning. I'm guessing that is what he would of used back in the late 1890's?  This call has a high pitch smooth sound to it, the right side has a slower rollover and a deep soft rasp at the end, the left side has a sharper break and a chattery rasp at the end. In doing some research on Gibson's I found out that Gibson's personal call he used had a soundboard built in it like violins have, this one I put a hard maple soundboard in the bottom raised up on small pegs to help give it a smooth clean sound and a bit higher pitch to the call.
Thanks for looking, Scott

WOW Scott, that's a sweet looking call.  I can't believe you do all that woodburning with a hot nail and needle nose pliers.  Props to you my friend  :icon_thumright:
