My wife did her first completely on her own hunt this morning. No harvest, but a wonderful day. She picked a bird, we roosted him as close as we could as he was into the woods. She came up with a strategy and got set up by 0415. He gobbled on the limb and had hens. He got quiet on the ground but did answer her a few times. The look on her face was priceless. No harvest, but very successful. She gained confidence and a lot of first hand experience. I am very proud of her. Only negative could be she might realize she doesn't need me.  :OGturkeyhead:  :OGturkeyhead:  Z

Good for you Mrs Z!
Z I'm sure you are proud of her and I see many future hunts together for the both of you.
Congrats for taking the time to teach her.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, tired, beat, thoroughly used up and totally worn out from chasing turkeys and loudly proclaiming; "WOW -- What a Ride!"

I don't know if it's good or bad, but she is all in on this one bird, lol. Toughest bird we hunt due to accessability and he is very visible. We talked about a bunch of different strategies to get him. It was fun, she is so excited. She has nicknamed him the" FDB", Future Dead Bird, lol. I don't know if I will be invited on the hunt. If not, I will try to fill my last tag in Maine. Either way, she is having more fun. I'm all in for that. Good luck and God Bless. Z

She is getting a real taste of what it is like to be a turkey hunter nowadays. Someone beat her to her spot and she had to improvise. Maybe I was right and she should have gotten up earlier, lol. But I am not saying that out loud. Updates later on. I have to live vicariously through her till I can get back to Maine.   :funnyturkey:  Z

Somethings are better kept to yourself Z. We learn that as we get older.
Smart man!

Hunted this weekend, I slept in on Saturday, no contact. I went with her sunday as a camera man and she called in 2 jakes to the decoys. I call it a win as she had the gun on them at 20 yards. She is still making plans to hunt every day she possibly can. I am actually impressed that she is still pounding it like she is. She has transformed from my hunting partner to a real turkey hunter and it is cool to see. 12 days left after today, still time to seal the deal. Good luck to y'all still out there. Z
