It's basically stormed or rained since Wednesday. We have some serious flooding happening, however, my son and I took advantage of a misty rainy day. Started at our place this morning and heard nothing. Left and went across the state line to another farm. Got set up and finally an ole bird let out a gobble across the holler. Called to him some and waited. About 10-15 minutes later he gobbled again but was on our side coming up the slope. Told my son get ready. He popped out in the corner of the field and took another 15 minutes very slowly strutting into an opening. Proud of my son for being patient but I could tell his nerves were getting to him. He was shaking like a leaf waiting for the bird to clear some branches. 20.8 lbs, 8.5" beard with rot, 1 3/16" spurs.

Congrats to you both... conditions have been unfavorable but obliviously not impossible.

Father & son/daughter hunting is the best that there is. Congratulations.

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.

Congratulations to you and your son on a fine bird.

Congrats!  This is my last year of youth hunts with my boy.  Gonna enjoy it for sure.    Sad he is growing up.  Nothing better than family hunting together.
