I know it is not a Franchi, but I have a Stoeger 3020 ( close to the same gun) and will shoot any 2-3/4" shells
Your Franchi is suppose to shoot ALL 20ga shells if not there is something wrong with the gun
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

Break it in with heavy loads first.

Owner's manual instructs exactly that. A full box of heavy loads.

Any particular cleaner better over another? I'm having the same exact issues as everyone here has described and I've run about two boxes of shelves through it, but I've never actually cleaned the factory oil off of it.

Just get the gunk out, then oil LIGHTLY they don't need much oil to run

The first 2 boxes you shot were you using HEAVY loads?
If not repeat the process with strong shells.

Firm shoulder mount of utmost importance on inertia gun. Tight to your shoulder.

What shooting position,  were you sitting with shoulder to a tree or hard object? If so try different shooting positions.

Is it the pistol grip model or standard stock?
Pistol grip MIGHT need more break in or slightly stronger loads.

These guns have been extremely reliable in my experience.  They're not problem guns.

I would tear apart the bolt and make sure it isn't greasy, check the recoil spring as well.

They ship some of those guns with cosmoline and that crap turns to glue!

Throw some G96 or other quality oil and see what happens.
