A man told me the other day you could pick tomatoes green, wrap them in paper and put them in a cool dark place and keep them in winter. When you want one just take it out and put it in the window to ripen.

Wish that was true, I hate eating those imported tomatoes in the winter.

I tried that a few years ago using, I believe, a variety called Long Keepers. Had a few that kept until December but they just didn't taste very good to me, never tried it again.

I had tomato's last until the end of November doing that very thing. Wrap and store in a cool dark place.

I've done that with late season tomatoes. They will ripen in the bag however so keep check on them.
