I am pretty sure that he would tell you it was only through his faith and belief that the testimony would serve others that He got the strength to do it. You can see it was painful and he was reliving it, but he done it for good. It may even have been some closure and healing to do it. I am not sure when that video was shot, but the accident happened in May 2020. Time can heal some and bring strength. I have told my story many times and I don't do it for any badge of courage or to be self serving. I do it because I never ever want anyone else to go through it, the purpose outweighs the pain of reliving it. I will assume this father feels some of those same feelings. Make no mistake, he will never get over it and the solace of maybe preventing another tragedy may be therapeutic. We all process horrific tragedies differently. I have been been accused of over-telling my story, but I assure you I do not get any personal benefit from it. That day and all the feelings that go with it reply in my mind and I am right back there again whenever it comes up. However, that very pain is what drives the desire to do everything possible to prevent anyone else the same pain. If I could I would walk up to Mr. Ellis and hug him with a tear in my eye and just say, "I see you and my heart is with you, I understand "

I would certainly disagree that you have told your story to much. Stories such as your should be repeated often as a reminder that it can happen in an instant and that the effects last a lifetime. You show tremendous courage in repeating your story. I still remember that one of the golden rules of the hunter safety program I attended was identify your target.

Thanks so much for sharing that with all of us!

The capacity of some people to forgive simply  amazes me, almost lost my best friend when he was in a car accident with his drunk friend, his drunk friend and his brother strapped my friend into the car as he was unconscious for all extensive purposes then the guy proceeded to fall asleep at the wheel and flip the car into a covert full of water and my friend got a brain injury because of it. He then lied and said he swerved to miss a deer but the tire imprints in the grass clearly showed he fell asleep, hit the covert and flipped the car.

Later that day he shows up to the hospital acting like things are no big deal and the family forgave him, that was over 20 years ago and I still can't stand the sight of him.

I wish I had that capacity to forgive but I just don't, I am still carrying a grudge since the 80's

This guy is a far better Christian than I am.
Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength. Arnold Schwarzenegger
