I was driving up a dirt road this weekend and up ahead was 4 crows standing around in the middle of the road looking at something as if what are we going to do now. When they flew off I took a walk over to see what they were doing and wouldn't you know it they were standing around a broken turkey egg. Clearly one of them dropped it while flying over the road. I searched the area for a nearby nest with no luck. Crows are smart you know they were going to go back for more.

Most places allow the shooting of crows.

Shoot a crow......trap a coon, possum or skunk......shoot a black snake...... save a turkey nest.

The good Lord ain't made a gobbler I can't kill.  I just gotta be there at the right time.....  on the day he wants to die.

Somebody here did an experiment where they and their kid put eggs out in I believe it was a abandoned turkey nest and left a camera behind to record it and if I recall correctly crows were often the first ones there. I THINK this was part of some kind of national or regional experiment and crows were often found to be the first to raid a nest. I hope the person that did this will correct me, I can forget details sometimes because of my meds and don't want to come off like I am lying.

At least one member here did as well, I want to say it was two but like I said my meds mess up my memory and it is not always trustworthy.

Crows will eat turkey eggs thats for sure.

But turkeys will drop an egg in the road or while just walking at times. I have seen them and read about it somewhere. That is probably how the egg got in the road. I would think a crow would eat the egg right there in the nest.

2 different instances this year after doing some soft blind calling I had a crow come in and land in a tree 25-30 yards away, no doubt in my mind looking for the hen it heard and eventually the nest.

I read something about them getting 1.7 eggs per crow.  Now that is not coon numbers but it's significant considering how many crows.

For what it's worth I've witnessed them and ravens eating turkey eggs.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

There is an absolute link to crows and turkeys.  I paid extra attention to it this year and 9/10 times I had a bird gobbling crows would show up.  If I had hens walking around cameras crows would be on camera within a minute typically.  I think they know gobbling toms mean hens and hens lead them to nest.

Yes, crows / ravens all eat turkey eggs

Back in my early years a bunch of us guys in the fall after deer season would ride around the country roads and call crows with a homemade speaker fixed to a cheap cassette play using crow sound tapes and would have a blast shooting them.. What we did for entertainment back then ... LOL...
