Glenda Green Seat Mod for Sitka Vest

I love my Sitka vest, but as anyone who has ever used one of these knows, the seat is absolutely abysmal. After using the vest for a couple years I decided to break down and buy a GG inner tube seat. Using that seat this year and finding I absolutely loved it, I started thinking how I could replace the seat on my vest with the MUCH better GG seat.

First of all, I realized that the seats are similar in size and I should be able to replace the original seat without messing it up. So after experimenting with my daughter's sewing machine, I figured out a way to make it work! I'm sure someone who can actually use a sewing machine could make it look much better, but I did finally get it to work like I wanted to! Here are some photos of what I did.

Here is the webbing kit I used.

I LOVE this mod! I love that I can unbuckle the seat and use it independently.

Good job, I learned how to use my wife's sewing machine last year. I've made several vests and seat pads.

Nice work there.

One great aspect of Glenda's design is that because it's made to unzip and break down, any alterations are super easy.

I have too many vests for the same reason that I have too many guns, calls, etc., but every one of them has been modified to utilize this seat.

Recently did a similar GG seat mod to fit my M2 vest. The stock M2 seat left a lot to be desired. Wanted similar operation as the Cabelas Speed Seat. Used 1" elastic webbing and the stock M2 buckles. Added basically long buttonholes about 2" above the ends of the zipper for elastic webbing to pass thru and behind inner tube. Also a 1" regular webbing pigtail for center attachment to bottom to of the vest bird bag.

Works excellent and stays tight to back of vest and never find it bouncing off my rear. A quick flip and you are seated.

I used a cheap version of it for years I think I found at Walmart back in the day, was great, not sure why I didn't go back to it?

How much is Glenda's cover these days?
