Wow. Hoping for the best recovery possible.

We are all very fragile, even though we think we are indestructible. One small mishap can be life changing for sure. Safety at work gets to be an overwhelming obstacle at some times. But we all need to use best safety practices at all times, you just never know.

A friend had a very similiar scenario. Climber, no harness, something broke, and he fell 20 ft compound fracturing both ankles. He had no cell service but luckily another hunter heard him yelling for help.

I have the luxury of hang on stands, and I have a lifeline on each. I am clipped in from the second I leave the ground.

Heck I just remembered my shop teacher in high school fell out and impaled a stick in his leg that narrowly missed his femoral artery. Also a guy I work with had a treestand break and he woke up at the base of the tree and couldnt remember how he got there.

Terrible to hear.

I've been personally affected by two different treestand accidents.  One my nephew broke a leg the other a friend lost his life.  Always wear a harness.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.
