I was "that guy" this morning. I got up to go. Thought I would go early so I could be sure I was the first person there. Wrong answer. A guy was parking in my spot when I got there. So, I drove a little farther and parked. Right at daylight, I heard one gobble. I could hear him good but knew I was a long way off. So, I took off through the woods. Then I realized there was water  in front of me. I had hit the lake and he was across that arm of it. So, I sat down, took out my GPS and figured out where he was and drove around. I parked and walked in. I hit an old logging road so I stopped to listen and figure out where I needed to go. I heard the bird kind of toward the gravel road so I eased that way. A few minutes later, he gobbled again. Then I heard something else...somebody was in there and calling him. So, I walked back out a ways and sat down to listen to see what happened. I was thinking I might come back another day if he doesn't shoot. Then, a bird gobbles up the road in the other direction...close. I pulled on a face mask and a minute later, he stepped out onto the logging road...so..I shot him. Not real happy about the way it took place but I figured he would have shot had it been him sitting where I was. I'm so upset that I don't know if I can eat my second plate of turkey nuggets.

Congrats, you tried to avoid what you could. That's public hunting, you were as ethical as you could be from your story. Enjoy the nuggets.

Great job, you did what you had to and harvested  a nice bird. Congratulations!

Congrats, you did nothing wrong, you backed away from 1st bird, 2nd bird found you.

If the other guy could talk turkey he would be the one toting the gobbler out instead of you.

Good job but you don't need a kennel to carry a dead turkey.

Congratulations, and good job trying to do the right thing.
