Are photo albums a thing of the past? I can remember the days of how exciting it was for a family member to get a camera and take pictures of everyone at mom and dads house on Sunday afternoon and those special occasions. We would take pictures of just about everything including trips and drop off the film to be developed and we would always have 2 / 3 pictures that had half the family or parts of the family cut-off in those pictures. Lots of great laughs and family time were captured for the next generations to see in these old photo albums. Then we moved into the error of these cameras and film that you load the camera and take a picture and watch it come to life in your hands. But we still had these pictures for everyone to see. We would take pictures of the game where we harvested deer, turkey and pictures of fish we caught. These Old Photo Albums had lots of great members and priceless pictures. Now we have the cell phone that takes pictures and we only have the pictures for our own viewing of these special occasions and social media. So this could go on on but are missing out on an important part  history with replacing the OLD PHOTO AlbUMS. i know i have pictures in my cell photo, and i do send a few to be developed but nothing like those 25/50/100 pictures we use to take with the old Polaroid camera.

I keep a hunting photo album.   For every turkey I take 3 pictures one of whole bird, one on beard and one of spurs.   I then write on the side of album.   Weight, length of  beard and spurs, date, state, year.   For deer I will take one picture of doe, Buck several different views of rack and one of whole deer.    Then write info out to the side.   Wish I would of started doing the earlier.   Been doing it for 20ish years.

What's a photo album, Mommy?
I love cellphone pics and being able to create albums on my phone for vacations, hunting seasons, etc.
It's great to reminisce looking on my tablet.
My wife takes hundreds of photos on vacation and prints 100-200 to put in an album. Every year it gets harder to find an album she likes. I hate to put a plug in for them, but she usually finds one at Amazon.

I love old albums.   I have them from the early 60's up to about late 90's early 2000's.   Then it seems like we went mostly digital, saved on cd's, cards, etc.   it's just not the same.  I wish we would have continued with the albums.  They take up a lot of space, but I like the hands on and flipping the pages.

I will never regret having old family photo albums, some are in black and white and looking back at those old family pictures and seeing the old cars, trucks, hunting pictures and farm animals in those pictures. I have some old photos of my great granddaddy with him standing beside a pair of mules logging etc... priceless pictures in my opinion. I just think convenience makes us less convenient sometimes. So take some pictures and have them developed for the future generations. Remember the days of the old VCR tapes .. now you can't hardly find a player to play a VCR tape. The Old VCR cameras .. in my opinion you can't replace a good picture. Albums and pictures have stood the test of time ...

I save a bunch of pictures onto Snapfish, and then when I have a pile of them, I get them printed out and mailed to me. Doing it that way i can still have photo albums.

Well not just hunting related but it seems like they are just not seen much anymore. I wish they were, I love looking at those old B&W pictures of old family members I had never met and hearing stories about them before they went off to war and seeing the smiles and that sadness of those they left behind just as much as I did seeing dad in his football uniform or mom in her nurses uniform. I do remember a few old hunting pictures but it was not a very big thing where I grew up. As a photographer I love looking at all the history in old photos, the cars, the hair styles, what people wore, the subtle changes in things that have remained the same like eyeglasses. Being at a home that had been in the family for a long time and seeing what the old tool shed looked like when it was first built or the old barns and other outbuildings.

Your right on here Greg, photo albums are forever, treasured memories. I also miss the quick Polaroid shots, something about those old pictures hit home. Now we snap instant cell phone pics, sometimes sent them to our computers, and eventually they get deleted. The only advantage here is instant sharing with our hunting fraternity and family friends. Disadvantage is the inability to pull out that old album 10 years from now over a cup of coffee and reminisce.....be safe....

Bringing up fond memories is what getting old is all about. Its an awakening, it brings those times alive if only in our head. The people, friends, family and loved ones are what we should remember. Even the bad times, experiences or bad hunts we may have had are nice to remember. It's always good to see an old face, old friend or building from our past.
