Speedy Stitch Sewing Awl

Anybody ever use a Speedy Stitch sewing awl to repair your turkey vests & things. I just got one & repaired some stitches on a 50 year old leather sheath for a hunting knife & a camo belt that was in bad shape. I plan on using it to do some mods on one of my turkey vests as well. It's a handy tool to have around. Guess I've been living under a rock most of my life.

Yep it's a very useful tool to have around. I don't use a vest but have repaired a backpack, pants, and made some accessories for saddle hunting as well.

Great information!  I wish I had known about this product a while back when I was trying to replace some zippers on a backpack.  I bought one of those hand-held, batter-powered sewing machine thingies and it is a total POS for making repairs on heavy material and/or complicated sewing jobs. 

I ended up just trying to superglue the zippers on the pack, and amazingly enough, that worked!  I think a combination of using superglue and this sewing tool would be just the ticket for projects like these.

I have used one to make tree saddle prototypes and repair lots of backpacks and other gear for many years.  One tip  is that heavy test braided fishing line, like Spiderwire, works great as strong thread for it, but the waxed thread made for is stiffer and easier to use to learn.
