I just heard about some snake proof ones from Crackshot, they look good and good reviews.
I got them last week.  I tried them on with my turkey boots and walked about 100 yards to the mailbox and back.  Seemed pretty good but that was a small test.  I sat up like turkey hunting and they did fine, no cutting into my leg or anything.  The weight is 11 oz per leg, about what a snake boot would weigh over a regular boot, maybe a bit less.
I'll test them out more in the woods tomorrow.
Love to hunt the King of Spring!

I have both the crackshot, and a pair of snake proof gaiters that I bought from academy. They both work well, but I do prefer the crackshots.

Would a good pair of leather hiking boot with stand a snake bite if worn with a snake gaiter?

Yes. That's why I wear solid leather boots with TurtleSkin gaiters.
I'm not super afraid of snakes, but I can't take a chance hunting by
myself 3 or more miles from the truck, and nobody knows where I am.

Thanks Jim, I have a pair of Keen ankle boots that are light and waterproof and like you i hunt alone a long way from the truck and we got the snakes..

Another vote here for Kenetrek.  I have a pair of turtle skin gaiters coming for hunting here in GA.  I am hoping they will be a better option than snake boots.
