Thinking about getting a Retay 20 gauge.  Did it shoot straight out of the box with no optic on it?

Roost 1

I've heard of at least 3 that shoot up tp 18" low.

WV Flopper

 Have not shot one.

I had one in hand and am surprised of the above comment. Looked like a nice little gun, felt good. I had no issue with it. Very similar to my boys M2. I think it was about 350-400$ cheaper than the M2! Again, this was only handling one in a store, I did not shoot it.

Thinking about getting a Retay 20 gauge. For those of you who own one, how do you like it? Did it shoot straight out of the box with no optic on it?

I bought their Masai Mara Small Town turkey edition this year and I love it. Having said that, I never shot it without a red dot because it came with a rail, so I can't comment on the POA out of the box. It is strictly a turkey gun for me.

Point of interest is that I was shooting Federal TSS before this season and had some left over for my initial trial run with the retay. It would not cycle the 3 inch shells and I was frustrated as heck. Spoke with the guys at apex and come to find out the Federal TSS shells are about a quarter inch longer than Apex TSS. Made all the difference in the world. The gun runs like a champ with the Apex and throws a nasty pattern as well.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'm trying to post pics but I cant figure out how to do it from my phone.

Big Jeremy

I have one in 12 ga. Not the small town turkey version...regular with a 26" barrel. Mine shoots my hand loads through a Sumtoy pretty much dead on...center mass of my pattern at 40 is approximately 2" low and 1" right. Hard to beat that, IMO.

Love the shotgun. Handles well, has cycled everything flawlessly, recoil is on par or better than other inertia guns I've shot. The inertia plus bolt is better than any other on the market, IMO.

That's a great pattern! It would be nice to shoot one before buying but that's not the way it works.

I think I've got the pictures figured out. 30 and 40 yards respectively.

The photo of shells is federal TSS on left, Apex TSS on right.

6lb5oz in 20ga too heavy in my opinion.  I went to 20ga to have a light gun, in hind sight I would have went 28ga since I load my own shells.

Meleagris gallopavo

I won't get too excited about the Retay unless they come out with a pistol grip stock.

Realtree True Timber I believe. It's a good looking gun. I know looks don't matter but who wants an ugly gun.
