I have several of Lon's pots and have always wondered what the 08 means he writes under his name. Does anyone know?

It has to do with a friend of his son's that passed away. He told me the story but I don't remember the exact details.

I was told by one of his good friends that it's in memory of a good friend of his son's that passed away from cancer.  The 08 was his dirt track car number.
