Meant to post this awhile back when it came out, but thought some of y'all might get a kick out of this essay I wrote for Garden & Gun about a redneck hen I met last spring in Osceola country.

Now that is a freakin" GREAT turkey hunting story!  Much respect, Chester.  I can see why you write for a publication.  Let me know when your first book comes out.  I will be one of the first in line.  I doubt you can hear my applause from across the country,...but it is pretty loud here!   ;D :icon_thumright:

On the topic of that hen, there are reasons other than her gravelly, commanding voice why those gobblers,...and the rest of the birds in the flock,...bow to her will.  Some of us have discussed it before,...might be good for another debate at some point,...but not here.

Again, kudos to you for a fine piece of writing!   :happy0064:

I remember reading that in G&G last year.  Glad to know the author is an OG poster! Excellent piece.

Yes, that was a really nice article! For those of you out there who want to read a very good book by Chester Copperpot, I highly recommend-When These Mountains Burn.

Nicely done! Enjoyed reading that!
A quality paddle caller will most run itself.  It just needs someone to carry it around the woods. Yoder409
Over time...they come to learn how little air a good yelper actually requires. ChesterCopperpot

Being a subscriber also, I thumb through searching for articles similar to yours. A fine read for sure! Must be something about that mountain water you're drinking. Send me some out here on the Coast along with those natural born Longbeards! You got skills Brother!
