I thought the gnats were bad in Louisiana but the NE has got them beat by a lot. Not the biting kind but them dang fly right into your eyeball while your trying to work a Gobbler type. A Thermocell is useless in their presence and you can only spray so much Off before it starts to make you sick. Well I had bought one of the Sea to Summit head nets before this season but didn't really need it in La. I think I paid 10-12$ for it but I'd have paid 112$ for it after getting  up north. 100% keeps them aggregating gnats out of your eyes and ears. I'd suggest the black version, after a couple minutes of wearing it you don't even notice it, doesn't affect vision at all. I wore mine with a boonie  hat so it kept the net off my face. Probably work well for eyeglass users because the small mesh  allows air in so your glasses don't fog up and the black mesh would stop any glare from the glasses. I won't be caught without on in my vest  from now on.

Try a spray called No Natz. It's all natural plant oils. Works well. You can find it on Amazon, Walmart or a lot of local shops carry it also.

Sent from deep in the woods where the critters roam.

Deep woods off, vanilla extract several other sprays do work.  But you have to keep reapplying it and when your hunting/camping out of your truck there's not really an option to take a shower so after a couple days of repeated applications your soaking in a lot of toxic bug sprays and the constant smell of vanilla extract starts to get old as well. The sprays don't really keep them at bay they still swarm you and land the spray keeps them from staying but they can and will still land in your eyes sometimes. At first lite when it's still cool the gnats ain't bad but after it warms up the head net takes care of the gnats without the toxic sprays.

I have two different headnets I use. My primary is a 3/4 net with the eyehole...Quaker Boy bandito or similar. But...if either mosquitoes or gnats are bothersome I have a full camo headnet that goes on over my cap. Problem solved. Re: mosquitoes I also carry a Thermacell...anybody that doesn't and is bothered by them deserves it.

Did you enjoy the ticks too?

My First trip to the north east for spring gobbler the black flies tore me up, my eyes started to swell shut halfway thru the first day.

Luckily I ran into a friend of my buddy's in the big woods and he had an extra headnet  he lent me. a fine mesh headset, worked great for gnats, no seeums, blackflies and mosquitoes. now I always have one in my vest.

Didn't see a single tick, but I had everything treated in permethrin.

They are still terrible down here this year ,  the only thing I've found that actually works for extended time is Olive oil skin spray ,  it's a skin care product in a green spray can and can be found in wal marts and roller general stores .     Thank me later ????
