After a good season I was thinking about adding a new pot call to the tool set I already have a crystal mistress and a wood haven slate call. Was wondering what you all thought about ceramics and aluminum calls and suggestions welcome. I have heard great things about gooserbat calls just seeing what you guys recommend

Preference of which pot call surface and maker are about as subjective as you can get. Ask 100 people probably get a 100 answers. And when you add in which striker for which surface it can get out of hand.
You really need to play a bunch to find what you like. I prefer Ceramic over Alluminum.
If you make everything easy how do you know when your good at anything?

I get that I don't get a lot of opportunities to run calls as I don't hunt with anyone else or know any other turkey hunters. Was thinking ceramic just to have something different I have all kinds of strikers turn them on my lathe

I can give a recommendation on a excellent ceramic. Chad Hutchinson. He goes by stumpy on here. His ceramics are second to none. If you can find a jimmy schaffer atomic 13 , its anodized aluminum , I would scoop it up. Soooo many great calls and callmakers now that it is unreal. Must warn you though , buying custom calls is addictive as crack. Good luck.

I bought a Hanks Aluminum in a Paduck (spelling?) pot and it is glorious. I've called in several this year in Georgia with it. Plays soft too.

X2 for Chad Hutchinson, "Stumpy", love his ceramic. Mark Cornelius on aluminum....or Jim Schaffer Atomic 13

I've got several aluminum but only one ceramic at the moment. Think I've got 3 aluminum made by Mike Yingling, one by Al Holbertson (Enticer Game Calls), a Halloran anodized that I stripped half the anodized coating off of (huge improvement on that call) and a Schaffer atomic 13. Schaffer rarely sees the outside of my call drawer. Apparently they're worth something these days. It does sound very good though. Halloran used to come out when the weather was crappy but it resides in the drawer as well. If the weather is good I grab a Yingling. If it looks bad I'll take the Enticer. Mikes calls seem to produce more rasp (for me) and so I get better results in my area. Ive found that hunting back home, the birds are a bit different and use the Enticer for the higher pitched yelp.

As for ceramic, again I've turned to Mike Yingling. Guy just produces a call that flat out works for me. Used his brass/slate in a cherry pot for both birds I took as well as 2 birds for other fellas. Used it again yesterday to get the bird that took a ride over my shoulder back to the truck as well. Just my couple pennies worth at the moment.

I have 5 of Mike's calls and they are all pure turkey.
