Cleaning bore before patterning

Has anyone ever heard of running a swab with windex on it, through the bore after cleaning to remove any remaining oils?
Never heard of this, but did read it somewhere and thought it could be corrosive on some metals, but then again I thought Hoppe's 9 was ammonia based?
