Ruger 10/22 Bolt Problem
December 30, 2018, 10:24:17 AM
Hey Y'all,
I purchased a Ruger 10/22 off Gun Broker.
I am unable to open the bolt all the way. It only opens 1/4 of the way then hangs up.
How can I fix this problem?

Bought new or used?
Does it have a scope or scope mount? One common problem is scope mount screws protruding to far thru the receiver, and interfering with the bolt. Otherwise, I'd try dissasembling and see whats going on. You can find diagrams and videos online of how to take apart.

Sounds to me to be overlong scope screws. Easy to check; if it doesn't lock up then, grind or file a bit off the screws until the bolt comes to the back of the receiver and comes back to battery. Be careful not to booger up the threads on the screws.
