Sunday morning 2 gobblers came in and whooped my strutting jake. My wife then missed one and scared them off. Those 2 are back in the same field and I was wondering if any of you have had success or think I will have success by setting the strutter out again. The reason that I am so interested is because the birds are so hened up right now that the strutter is the only way that I am getting them in.
Jakes are like scotch. They are not worth a darn until they age.

Might work. I'd definately try setting up in a slighty different spot. Change something up a lil bit at least.

Turkeys can't reason...go kill em' in the spot you want to call them to.
When I turkey hunt I use a DSD decoy

i called in 4 jakes sunday morning and my wife killed one. went back yesterday and one of them was standing in the spot where she killed the one the day before.

I would set up were I wanted too and let the dekes do their job.

Turkeys don't have long-term memory IMHO and that of many wildlife biologists. The setup success will be independent of a shotgun boom a couple days back.

You're huntin' a bird with a brain just a little bigger than a quarter.
Despite his keen hearing and superb eyesight he can not reason, for all he knows it was thunder.
Set up and try him again.

I set up on the same birds this morning only in a different spot than Sunday. Those gobblers wanted nothing and I mean nothing to do with my strutting jake today. I am optimistic though, because there was no gobbling on the roost this morning, so maybe they were just not in the mood.

this is a game of finding a bird that wholeheartedly wants to die on that given day...that being possible and also meaning those birds may have gobbled up hens or not gobbled for a variety of reasons, id keep trying if you know there there.

I have no idea how or why I posted that arrow target group. Sorry.
