Ohio double!!

Started my hunt in Ohio on Thursday of this week. The weather was picture perfect last two days and the birds were on fire!! Thursday morning started off with 2 birds gobbling their heads off from 6:15 until finally moving off at 9:30. We decided to do a little a little running and gunning and struck two birds but were a little two deep on private and ultimately running out of time with the noon shutdown time. Friday morning we decide to get in tight on a known roost site. 6:00 am and the woods erupts with gobbles from 4 longbeards but they had the classic lockjaw when the hens flew down. Knowing the farm isn't setup for a run and gun style hunt, we decide to head to a blind we have in a known late morning strut zone. On the way to the blind we spot 3 birds headed towards that direction but still a few hundred yards off. We get tucked with decoys out and play the waiting game. Just doing some blind soft calling. After about a hour we finally hear a bird gobble on the ridge in front of us. What seemed like forever we finally see three red heads working down towards the field. Once locking onto the decoys they came on a line straight to us. I took the first one at 20 yards and then my buddy got the second one after he ran and stopped to look back at what happened. Both great birds, mine was 23lbs 10 1/4" beard and 1 1/8th spurs. The other was 21lbs 10" beard  and also had 1 1/8" spurs.

That's awesome!! Been really quiet here in Indiana. Start vacation next week so I hope they get fired up.
