SBEII POA & POI Difference

Do all of you SBEII users have optics on your gun? I tried patterning longbeards and mag-blend and my POI is about 6-8" lower then my POA. I shot about 2-3 shells of each load with an IC choke and it stayed pretty much the same. I cleaned the crap out of the barrel before shooting as well. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks,

Hoot

Its normal for them.Welcome to the SBE poa/poi issue.  :you_rock:  I have a couple of them and didn't want to go with optics. I tried different shell/choke combos until mine patterned where I aimed. Cheaper to put some type of optics on it. I burned up alot of ammo and bought alot of chokes. You could send it off and have Roberts gun works/ Benelli/ or maybe Sumtoy on O.G. might be able to help you.

Mine shoots really high.  I put a Burris speed bead on it and can still barely adjust the poi down far enough to be acceptable.  Would have been easier with standard rail mount.  Hoping to find another shotgun with similar reliability that shoots flat.

I was hoping this was going to be an issue with just my gun, doesn't seem the case. So do all the folks that are posting great patterns from SBEII's use optics or just wing it and aim a few inches over target when they go to shoot??

They are known for the problem. I've owned at least one since the early 90s.My original SBE shot poa/poi...I also own 2 SBE2s. My steady grip had issues and I'm not sure on the other one I use it for waterfowl/pheasants...
I think it's a gamble. You either get one that shoots good or you don't. I've heard alot of bad on the SBE3 s also. Do your homework if you ever think of going that route.
I mainly use my T/C Encore for Turkeys, but for something different i bought my son a Benelli M2 and going to buy the M2 20g. 24in. barrel  for myself. For me I don't need the 3.5 in. and the M2s seem to have less issues.

mine shoots 4-5" high and 2-3"right. it seems to be a common thing with them,You'd think for what you pay for them they'd be dead on with the bead's but I guess benelli don't care cause they have never mad an effort to fix their problem. I put a red dot "burris speed dot 135" on mine and I love it.

If SBEs were made to shoot Win LBs, I'd expect them to be dead on accurate myself. However, in my experience with several gun and ammo combos, LBs tend to shoot significantly higher than any other load I've tried. Of course, there are exceptions...

no it shoot's high and right with all different shells and several choke's

There is a huge thread about this on shotgunworld.com under the benelli forum

ALL benellis with low ribs will shoot high. It's how they're designed to shoot.  Its called a flushing pattern, where the poi is set high off the rib for flushed or driven birds that are coming straight are or flying settraight are way from the shooter.  It's TOTALLY NORMAL for the brand.  The only ones that won't aretwayre the trap guns with high ribs and even those put the pattern on top of the rib.  Either get adjustable sights, a higher bead or ao settraightight of some kind.  That or learn to deal with it...

with the factory chokes and standard bird shot or turkey loads mine shoots fine.. start playing with turkey chokes and shells tho and its a different story. that's about typical for any shotgun for the most part in my experience tho.

My montefeltro shoots low with all shells but not a lot. Have you tried using different stock shims?

When you raise the comb, you raise the muzzle and that raises the point of impact.  The Benelli stock, assuming you have the "Comb Tech" and "Comfort Tec,"
on your gun, can make that pretty easy.
First, I'd use the shim that raises the comb (it's thicker on the bottom than the top) and see iif that gives you enough lift. If not, you may want to look at a higher comb. The one that comes on the gun is replaceable.
Or, you can order the Beretta Gel-Tek Cheek Protector. It accomplishes the same purpose, is less expensive than the Benelli comb and disappears when it's on the gun. They are available in several places and come in a couple thicknesses http://www.berettausa.com/en-us/beretta-gel-tek-cheek-protector-12-inches/e00378/
I've been shooting SBEs of one number or the other since 1991. Great guns but can be "quirky" when it comes to POA/POI Otherwise they are like the Energize Bunny.
I hope that helps.
