May go hunt a good chunk of private land in this area for their opener. Anyone have any experience hunting this area? good population of birds? also what can be expected hunting this area that early in the season. thanks

One of the best counties in bama to hunt. Pile of birds. With that pile comes a pile of hens, get on em early if they gobble on the roost.

I was thinking with that county being a little bit farther south than some it might be better earlier on.

I hunt in wilcox county and have been listening to birds gobble for 3 weeks. In my opinion wilcox county has some of the finest turkey hunting in the state. I hunt on our lease off the river. Swamp turkeys

The essence of the eastern wild turkey. Doesn't get much better than Camden/ Millers ferry area

It's a fine area to be in the spring, one of the finest areas in the country IMO.

Good area. If you have good timber should be full of them. I've hunted there and Marango county.. It's all good. We had thick cutover and had good hunting.

It's always a toss up early season but I do know the birds are gobbling there faces off in Alabama right now. Have friends who have been listening in multiple counties the last few days and hearing good reports

I hunt in Choctaw county. Those areas near the Tombigbee and Alabama rivers are some of the best turkey hunting in the country.
