Two hens, lots of eggs and one nest

On another forum I'm on ( a NYS one) a guy had a pic of 16 turkey eggs that are 2 different shades of color. One egg appeared to be ousted from the joint nest. Two hens came off the nest when he approached it.

Another guy chimed in saying years ago he had a turkey nest on his property that first had 6 turkey eggs in it. Days later when he strolled by it it now had partridge eggs as well. Them poor little partridge I'm sure were pretty confused after hatching.

Brother years back saw a turkey nest on one side of tree and partridge nest on other side of it's base.

Pretty neat stuff I think.
Anyone else have any neat turkey nesting run ins ?

guesswho

I can't remember for sure if this is one I found a couple years ago or if someone sent this to me.  But I think I took it in Chambers County Alabama.
If I'm not back in five minutes, wait longer!

I found a similar situation in Kansas a few years back. One hen on the nest and the other right next to it. I believe there was 22 eggs in the nest, 11 in each slightly different color.

So cool to find one in the woods....I have found myself just staring at one for extended periods of time in extremely deep thought about whats contained within and the journey in life that they will take.

Jumped the hen off the nest and had to peek at it. Was kind of surprised it was in such an open area about 40 yards from a creek. 14 eggs

You all do know that if you scare a hen off her nest a high percentage of the time she never returns to that nest....

Do not know where you heard/read that but from my personal experience that is untrue in the areas I hunt.

I have bumped hens to go back by her a hour later and she be right back. When you jump a nested hen she usually will not go far and be back when she feels you are gone.

I've run up on a few over the years while hunting, doubt most folks go looking for them. On this one I avoided the area after bumping the hen the first time but returned a month or so later to see how things turned out. I'd say this is the type of nest I most like to see.

Plenty of unique and odd things with turkeys, reckon that's why I have always been interested in them.
