Ugh...Rain... :^(

Well, looks like the first week of our Jersey season is shaping up to be RAIN. Of the five days it's supposed to rain three...UGH...

It can be uncomfortable for us , but at least you know they are still gonna be going about their business as usual. I have killed some good birds on nasty days. I know it doesnt help because all of us like them blue bird days. Get out there and get you one. Good luck.

Oh, rain won't stop me...My turkey vest has been hanging on a chair in my kitchen since last Spring 'cause I knew, once I put it away, turkey season was over (yeah, I know, sad...). That's how passionate I am about it.
Short of a torrential downpour or high winds and rain, I'll be out there. I'd just prefer no rain...
The worst part is, we've had some of the most gorgeous weather for about 2 weeks. Of course, now it's turkey season...

I'm with ya in Nj. Don't get caught up in looking at that long term weather. You know there's a good chance they'll get it wrong. I'm not a big fan of them blinds. But if it's going to rain I'll be out in one.. and dry.

Yeah, I know they're wrong as much as they're right. Maybe we'll get lucky!
Can't bring myself to the blind thing. Like being in a cage. They are dry, I'll give ya' that!

As you know a good turkey hunter has a plan A and plan B...Rain plays a part....windy days are the worst...i will take a rainy day over a 20 plus wind...

I've seen a complete and total downpour shut things down pretty good, but I've also killed a bird in what I would consider a decent rain.

As I get older, rain doesn't bother me as much any more.
I just head to one of my blinds, enjoy a cup of coffee and listen to the morning wake-up.
Take an umbrella with me for in and out.
I actually enjoy sitting in the rain...........as long as I don't get wet.....................LOL
As for sitting out in it........more power to you guys that do it.
My bones/joints, just don't take it any more.
Probably from doing too much of it daylight to dark, day after day, when I was younger, mostly deer hunting.
I would get out before daylight and wouldn't be back until after dark.
Ahhhh, those were the days.

I know you can kill 'em in the rain...I have a friend that brings up the story of him hearing a shot in a thunderstorm torrential downpour. It was me hunting not far from his house. I had gotten caught by thunder and lightning and didn't want to risk walking across an open field so I just sat tight.
A couple of gobblers showed up and were gobbling like crazy, downpour, lightning, thunder...They were fired UP!!!
It was raining so hard when I shot that all I could see through my scope was a faint white dot that was his head. Had to look around the scope and through it three or four times to get lined up (and the birds were only about 20 yds.away). BOOM! The lightning subsided temporarily and I scooted across the open field to the woods. I came up into his yard, drenched, with this wet mop of a gobbler. His dad, who he had over to take to breakfast, asked who that was and what was wrong with him? My buddy just chuckled...He knows me...
