.....was a good one!  Wasn't able to get out on Friday evening to roost a bird as it was raining like crazy along with thunder and lightning but I knew abouts where a bird would be roosted if it was rainy.  I headed in the woods in the dark and it was probably 6:40-6:45A before he gobbled and BINGO, right where I thought he would be, used the wet leaves and the light fog to slip in on a bench on the ridge above him, I guess I was inside a 100 yrds. from him.  I did a little tree talk and finally after about 10 minutes I did a flydown and started to sound like a hen feeding, he answered me a couple of times and finally at 7:15A I heard 2 turkeys pitch down so gun up and some yelps on the mouth call, no answer but I hear a turkey hop a branch that runs into the creek below me so I know they are coming, still cannot see them, I cover my mouth to muffle my calling and there he is and I think "CRAP" I hope he goes to my right so I can get my left hand on the stock to shoot.  He does what I need him to do and BOOOM he finds out why I like the 3.5" Hevi #7's! He hit the ground without a flop at 30-35 yrds.  All said and done at 7:22AM 20.5lbs., 9.75" beard (thick) and 1 1/8" spurs.  Went back out later that morning w/ my pastor to the farm he hunts to try to help him call one up but only got turkeys off the property to answer and they were courtesy gobbles, you could tell they weren't going to budge.  Headed to NC to hunt Wed.-Fri. so hopefully more stories to come!
