I watched a guy shoot a 3.5" Win HV from his NEF, he had just got the gun and was just goofing around at 25yds.

He was sitting on a cooler in his yard when he touched it off.  It rolled him right off that cooler and about knocked him out.

He wasn't a big guy but still, that's a bit more hit than I want to take.

There is a 3.5" 12 gauge in a local shop but it has a weight in the back like a 10 gauge, his did not.  I think his only weighed around 6lbs.

I have a NEF 10 gauge thats dipped...its not bottom land or green leaf but its pretty sweet I think real tree. ....with a Rhino 720 on the end got threaded....I shoot 3.5  2/3oz magblends out of it.....it was a goose gun 36" barrel converted to Turkey not cut. with a red dot on it.

My Issues.

It weighs 25lbs after a few hours of walking around the national forest in PA.

I was thinking......Man....these NEF 12s and 3.5 chamber weigh nothing....pretty sweet...however....
I was thinking about putting a thumbhole on it......but I heard the recoil is rediculous.....more than the 10 because of weight.....

Would the thumbhole be a bad idea?
What kind of pattern is the 12 3.5 getting.....?

I love single shots.

TD.
My 8yr old has no problem shooting 2 3/4 out of mine. Sure it rocks him, but its never put him on his back. I am far from recoil sensitive. It's never bothered me to shoot it. But I could understand how it would be too much for some. It is very close to my short barrel 835.

My 10 has a huge weight.....but would a thumbhole on either the 10 or 12 in a 3.5 take some recoil out?

I'm also shooting mag blends.....which are a train wreck...... :TrainWreck1:

I know the 3.5 longbeards dont bring as much as the mag blneds....

I can say yes or no. But I assume that the laminate thumb hole would.

The only 10 I'll use from now on is the nwtf browning gold light auto. Ive gone from single to pump to auto in 10 and in the browning it's about same weight as scoped 1187 with long barrel. Kicks less than 3.5" 12. My bps 10 was a slayer but not made for hill hunting wow. Not as heavy as the sp10 but nearly. The browning auto and rem 870 spst are my two favorites currently.
