Ive got a .565 comp-n-choke for a 870 youth model 20 ga.  I was wondering:

1.) Is this choke safe for hevi shot

2.) has anyone shot this choke with hevi 6's or 7's if so what kind of patterns are you throwing

thanks

Some people shoot HTL loads through them, but it's not recommended. The way the ports are made, makes the choke weaker.

He's big enough to ride in my truck!

CB on the run

I shot mine with the Fed HW FC either 6 or 7's, can't remember.  It did not pattern well.  If you're stuck on or with the choke contact RAJ or Dawei for lead recomendations.

IMHO - NO. I recommend that you try following Pb loads as the perform very, very well for me. I recommend that you start patterning at 30 yds & work back in 2yd increments to ascertain performance................
• Federal® Flitecontrol® Mag-Shok® 3" Mag 1185fps 1 5/16oz #5 (PFC258 5) $10.99
• Remington® Nitro-Turkey® 3" Mag 1185fps 1¼oz #5 (NT20M5) $6.99
• Winchester® Supreme® High Velocity 3" Mag 1200fps 1¼oz #4(STH2034) $11.99

I will tell you that CW (Conventional Wisdom) is to use small shot in a 20ga as you have a far smaller payload than a 12ga 3" or 3½" shell. I have tried a lot of #6 Pb loads in my three 20ga guns and have not been pleased. All the "Experts" scoff at using #4 in a 20ga, but for me in is the BOMB!

THANKS for that info. I've put together a rem1100 with CompNChioke for my 12 yo son and needed to hear this.
SO with 2 3/4 ONLY as my option, I'm gonna try Rem Nitro#4's and #5's, I'll report back here with pattern results.

Remington® DOES NOT offer Nitro-Mag® or Nitro-Turkey® in 2¾" #5 PB. What Remington does offer in 2¾" Pb ammo that will work for you is....................
• Remington® Express Long Range 2¾" 1220fps 1oz #4 (SP204)
• Remington® Express Long Range 2¾" 1220fps 1oz #5 (SP205)
• Remington® Express Long Range 2¾" 1220fps 1oz #6 (SP206)
• Remington® Nitro-Pheasant® 2¾" 1300fps 1oz #5 (NP205)
• Remington® Nitro-Pheasant® 2¾" 1300fps 1oz #6 (NP206)
• Remington® Nitro-Mag® 2¾" 1175fps 1 1/8oz #4 (NM204)
• Remington® Nitro-Mag® 2¾" 1175fps 1 1/8oz #6 (NM206)

Additional Pb options for you are................
• Federal® Wing-Shok® Magnum 2¾" 1175fps 1 1/8oz #4 (P256 4)
• Federal® Wing-Shok® Magnum 2¾" 1175fps 1 1/8oz #6 (P256 6)

• Federal® Wing-Shok® Pheasants Forever High Velocity 2¾" 1350fps 1oz #4 (PF204 4)
• Federal® Wing-Shok® Pheasants Forever High Velocity 2¾" 1350fps 1oz #5 (PF204 5)
• Federal® Wing-Shok® Pheasants Forever High Velocity 2¾" 1350fps 1oz #6 (PF204 6)
• Federal® Wing-Shok® Pheasants Forever High Velocity 2¾" 1350fps 1oz #4 (PF204 75)
• Winchester® Super-X® 2¾" 1220fps 1oz #4 (X204)
• Winchester® Super-X® 2¾" 1220fps 1oz #5 (X205)

• Winchester® Super-X® 2¾" 1220fps 1oz #6 (X206)
• Winchester® Super-X® 2¾" 1220fps 1oz #7½ (X207)
• Winchester® Super-X® 2¾" 1300fps 1oz #5 (X20PH5)
• Winchester® Super-X® 2¾" 1300fps 1oz #6 (X20PH6)

Just because my gun(s) prefer #4 or #5 over #6 doesn't mean that #6 isn't a very viable option for you, especially in a 2¾" chambered gun. Only your patterning can determine what is best for you and your son. The loads in italics are my recommendations as a starting point for you.
