Hey guys, I am almost done building a sxp 20. I am thinking of putting a red dot on it this season for my girl friend so I don't really want to break the bank. I was looking at a muller or a tru-glo. Which one would y'all suggest? Or another one around that same price point?

The old saying "you get what you pay for" is pretty much spot on when it comes to red dots on shotguns, but I digress.

I mounted a Tru Glo Open Shot($50) on a friends gun and it sighted in very easily and the view, dot, etc were very similar to more expensive sights.  One thing I don't like about many of the cheap reflex and tube style red dots is they are much higher than the more expensive reflex sights.  That extra height usually doesn't allow proper cheek weld.

Just remember you get what you pay for when it comes to optics.

I'd steer clear of anything truglo.  I've had three red dots from them break on turkey guns.

I like the small tube bushnell trophy red dots. I've got one on all my turkey guns and they haven't let me down yet a.

The Busnell tube red dots are good value for the money.  I've used them on turkey guns and deer guns.  If you happen to get the multi recticle version please be aware the POI changes a bit as you switch recticle types.  Not a big thing for turkey hunting but something to be aware of if you are using it on a deer gun shooting slugs.  I liked the 65MOA ring with 3 MOA dot recticle.  Just sight in with the recticle you want to use and stick with it.
