How many of you have found hidden treasures as in call makers that no one has ever heard of and even you didn't know they existed until you were tipped off?  I have a story from this weekend, but I want to get a picture of the call before I tell of my discovery.  Whats yours?

Well, I just started collecting calls about a year ago. I just found this site around the same time. Without this site, I would have never have known about the custom call makers. The closest I got to custom calls was Midwest Turkey supply. Now I know there are good call makers who supply Midwest, but you really have to go to the callmakers site and talk to individuals here on OG to get the real info. Since I found this site I have heard of Corder, Platz, Schaffer, Lyman, etc..etc. I know this may sound funny to some but it's the truth.

Now for the call maker I'm impressed by. I have purchased many calls from the call makers I mentioned and they are great calls and even better humanbeings. Top notched guys who have contributed so much to my knowledge of calls and call making. The one call I am blown away from is Scott Hocks slate over slate in a white oak pot. It's the best sounding slate I have used. I know this may be premature because I haven't hunted with the call yet. I got it in November. I do however have 30 years of hunting experience and have played many a pot call. None as good as Scott's to date. What intrigues me about him and his call is how new Scott is to call making. I find it amazing how nice a call he has made his first time. it blows my mind that he is so new to call making and in my opinion, he hit a home run!

This I must try!  Reckon you could send me a soundfile to my phone so I could hear it?  If so send me  a PM and I will respond with my cell number.
