I have had the Trophy Red dot on my 835, for 10 years now, and I haven't had a single problem (Knock on Wood).  I change my battery every spring, not necessary, but good insurance.  After the season is over, when I clean and put up the gun, I take the battery out so there isn't any accidents in the battery compartment.  For about $3, great insurance.  Tracker, contact Bushnell with the problem, I've always had Great customer service from Bushnell (and I have several of there scopes, binos and rangefinder).

Just my .02 I used an actual Red Dot for years. Forced me to focus on getting my cheek on that stock and the dot on that neck. Then, in the middle of nowhere Kansas, I was shooting and the lenses cracked. Useless, so I had to trade off with a buddy the rest of the trip. Red Dot gladly and quickly sent me a brand new one. The next spring, again in the middle of my trip, same thing happened. Out of commission. I then bought a Nikon VBS and it broke while I was sighting it in. After all of this, I had to have a scope that I could rely upon. I paid dearly for an Eotech. That was 6 years ago and I have never had a single issue. Every spring it is sighted in exactly where it was the spring before, and I do not have to live in fear of it cracking. Most amazing product I have purchased. There are much more cost effective solutions, but if you want to be certain it will work when you need it, you may want to consider Eotech.
