Another great season in the books! May 2nd I belly crawled 200+ yards in a foggy drizzle to kill this stubborn, tight lipped, henned up gobber! 40 yd shot the HW 7s hammered him.I had scouted him preseason and pegged him as the boss bird of the "upper" part of the farm,he always had hens with himThe pressure was off!1 down, 1 to go!//s1312.photobucket.com/user/jordanz7935/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20160502_081016_zpsjcysc4gn.jpg.html][/URL] 19.5 pounds 9" beard 1" spurs. May 8th I filmed my buddy kill this beautiful gobbler who came in strutting and quadruple gobbling like a movie star! Some of the best footage I've ever gotten  The next day I missed a big gobbler I've been hunting the past 2 yrs,the boss of the farm, only gobbler I've ever named,  "Lucky". He was easy to spot as he was missing the top of one of his tail feathers(from my little brother missing him late last yr).He was leaving and I rushed the shot. That hurt! After the first week off I had to go back to work and became a weekend warrior.Fast forward to May21st and I had fresh recon and a new setup to hopefully kill this big stubborn old bird,Lucky.Well he started gobbling real good on the limb but, I had company.I saw two other hunters sneaking in and they setup 220yds away from my new setup, but that was where I had missed him and basically hunted him all this season from, so with the bird still gobbling good in the tree I was still confident he'd come my way @ some point after fly down.I played my cards right, he flew down into the middle of the pasture after his 6 hens and they all went silent, his normal routine.Well I was setup right next to a steep knoll and I couldn't see them but knew they were there. After 20 minutes of nothing, I pulled out my henbox and did some sweet talking, nothing but silence.I waited 5 minutes and was getting my slate outta my vest when I looked up and saw a hen staring at me from the crest of the steep knoll @ about 45 yds.Well I froze and she started feeding her way right past me @35 yds away. She had company.1 hen,2hens,3hens proceeded to do the the same when I saw a familiar tailfan headed my way! I had to get my gun up and ready so I did that ever so slowly as he slowly strutted his way towards me tailing his hens!I let the 935 eat as soon as i got on him and he lifted his big ole noggin! 35 yd shot, he didn't stand a chance! And the rest is history!Lucky weighed in @ 20.5lbs, 10.5" beard(my best beard to date),1" & 1&1\8" spurs. My little brother finally filled a tag with me last Saturday. It was just a Jake but we were both happy he got to fill one tag before the end of season. So that's a wrap on my season, thankful to be able to have another great spring season. It just never gets old!

I too had a great season. I know many in Ny didn't. I was just lucky that my 4 spots here all had birds. Others close by had no action where as I got into em almost every day.  Mike

Thanks guys.He was "Lucky" enough to win me $25 last night @ the banquet dinner for our local turkey contest for longest beard!  It was a tough season for a lot of people, the birds in my area were pretty tight lipped after about the first week. Next year should be good there were a lot of Jakes running around this year, hoping for another good hatch  as well.
