I was out every day but Thrusday. It has been raining in my area of Orange County NY since the May 1st opener. All is good though as the toms gobble just a few times in the morning. We will see the sun tomorrow though and the camo army will be out in force-LOL.

Rain is not good for poults that are already starting to hatch for obvious reasons. Once wet they will also stink more n predators will find them easier imo. A topic not spoken about much but run hounds in a mist n try n lose something, you can't. Let's hope it stops

What's the limit in New York?  Thinking about maybe heading there due to their late season.  Thanks

Typically, the later you go the better.  That being said, most of NY has experienced a significant decrease in numbers.

Next week doesn't look that great either. Starting on Tuesday, rain every single day, through the weekend!!! ???

Sounds like our spring last year.  We've had a lot this year too, but mostly just on the days I have OFF work. :angry9:
Love to hunt the King of Spring!

I hunted everyday in Sullivan and ulster counties since Sunday and have not set up on a bird yet. This is my worst season yet. The weather is awful and I hope to return in the middle of the month. Good luck y'all.

mlisandro---you should try Orange County.

Conditions have been the same here in central and nc Pennsylvania. It has rained almost non-stop for the entire first week of the season. The sun came out this afternoon after hours that you can turkey hunt. I hate rain!
Deer see you and think you are a stump. The Old Gobbler sees a stump and thinks it is YOU!

I would but I lost a good spot in Otisville. My bud sold the property.

I just got back from 6 of 7 rainy days myself. Although I did not hang a tag I had a great week with my brother and father. I called birds in for both of them even in the rain. I had some exiting wet hunts and was beaten by one particular bird 3 times. Numbers seem to look a little more promising as I saw alot more birds this year then last. I believe the mild winter helped as well as a fair hatch.

Good luck guys and stay dry.

I'm upstate NY and tagged out. I have family in dutchess county and they said the weather's been terrible. My son and I had two fired up this morning in the rain but a hen came under us and we couldn't close the deal. I'm sorry other guys in NY aren't having much luck. Keep pushing it'll pan out.

Been pretty decent where I'm hunting. We've done decently n the rain hasn't bothered us much except it seemed today. Birds were gobbling close n once it started raining hard they just stopped. Bout an hour later we still hadn't heard from em n went somewhere else. I attributed the stoppage of game to bitds just heading somewhere else, prob a field above us.
Look on the bright side, many turkeys are being saved for the guys that don't quit after a week

One more plus... Blackflies aren't bad!!
