Well, so far I've hunted all 4 days of the PA season....it's still early but I need a little luck!

Day 1- Tom came in 30 yards but he wouldn't come out from behind a tree top lying on the ground. He walked off with a hen.

Day 2- Two Toms come in 60 yards but they stood there just out of range gobbling like fools, and then they walked away.

Day 3- Tom came in 20 yards to my left behind a tree that fell over. Slowly creeping my barrel in his direction, just 6" to go, couple putts and he moves down the tree where I can't see him and vanished! (and all morning I kept saying "I hope this tree doesn't mess me up")

Day 4- Two Toms roosted 60 yards from me, fly down below me just out of range and then a hen starts competing....well she won and off to the corn field they went.

I'm going to work tomorrow and giving them the day off...lots of action and having fun but man I would love to give one of those birds a ride in the bed of my truck...back at it Friday.

I agree you need a little luck. So good luck.

Dang!  Sounds like a combo of bad luck for you and good luck for the turkeys!  Keep on em!  If you're that close every hunt then it'll happen soon enough. I've only been able to get out on opening day but I listened before work every morning since and haven't heard a bird!  So I don't know if I should wish you luck or ask you to send some of your luck my way!  Lol!

Yeah it's been a great start and hunting the same birds. I'm just getting a little nervous of over pressuring them and making them smarter. I figured I'll take one day off and hit it again Friday.
Happy hunting!

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Sounds like you have more than your share of luck, just not GOOD luck.....LOL
I can put myself in your place many, many, times, and still seem to have a hard time "finishing".
Getting better though, I can finish about 1 out of 5.....which is pretty good for me.
I don't mean birds heard, but situations, like you've described.
To me, the chase and then the find, is 75% of the fun.
Not that I don't like a good turkey dinner once in a while.

Good luck, enjoy, have fun, and most of all be safe!
