Wild Feathers

Well most of us have seen a bird or two or a bunch with barring in the fan but this guy has the best I've ever seen.  I found him in Wisconsin but had to cut the trip short when my hunting partner had a family emergency.  Oh well we both got one before the quick trip back to Oklahoma.  Oh yeah 1 7/16 spurs and an 11 5/8 beard was nice too.

Nice.   They have become fairly common around here, some with some really nice barring.   I really don't remember seeing them 30-50 years ago, but there's a lot of things I don't  remember from then.   It seems the bared feathers are always in the middle, at least the ones I've seen.  Congrats on the gobbler!

Pretty bird. Watched this one last year breed a hen, called him in for a buddy a few days later. Called him Shade Tree Bird and he had the tail fan bars.

My first longbeard I ever shot had the bars on his tail, and my 4-beard from this year had a little too.
