My son got his tom yesterday morning.

Mature bird 19#; 9 1/2" beard; no spurs, no even a lump or a spot to show where the spurs should be.

  Odd.

Happens more than people think.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

First one I ever killed was like that except beard was even longer.  Not a nub of any kind on either leg.  Called one in for my buddy, his first bird, exact same thing.  I guess it's genetics?

surehuntsalot

I would certainly not call it odd but would call it disappointing.
