I know alligators will have either all male or all female hatches based on incubation temperature. Are turkey any different? Or are the any other kinds of environmental factors that would play a role in the sex of the poults that successfully hatched? The reason I ask is because I remember observing two separate flocks on our 460 acres last October that all appeared to be hens. Would/could you be able to tell a five month old jake from a hen? If we had a disproportionate amount of hens born last year, it would kind of explain why the toms have stayed so henned up so late into the season.
