Thanks for posting Tom,

Most turkey hunters that have only started hunting in the last 10-15 years can not appreciate what Dick Kirby did for the sport of turkey hunting. I remember in the mid-80's when I was just starting out, I would buy his VHS tapes. I remember one was called "Gobblin' Fever". They were about $45 and there were only 4 or 5 kills, but that was all we had to choose from. Now you can plop down $15 and get a high quality DVD with 30 kills.

Those early VHS tapes were so helpful for me, because I didn't know anybody who hunted that could teach me. He also personally developed and fostered a mass production approach to turkey hunting products. Some may say that's what's wrong with turkey hunting today, but along with the popularity of turkey hunting comes better products, better game management, better videos, and greater access to educational material. He was instrumental in making turkey hunting popular and without him, many of us turkey die-hards would not know the joy of hunting these amazing animals.

He was a true trailblazer and I am so sorry I never got to shake his hand. RIP Dick Kirby.
