I am trying to find a choke for my Winchester SX3. I've done my research and it seems like people really have success with either Pure Gold or Indian Creek. I was ready to pull the trigger on the sale that midway has right now on .665 chokes for 59.99 until I had some communication with IC and they suggest a .670 size choke. That size has to be ordered directly from IC, at a price of 79.99

My question is, in your opinion, would you just go with the IC .665 for 59.99, or is the extra .005 worth the extra 20$? I am not that experienced when it comes to these sizes, and I don't want to buy the wrong one.
Also I have found Pure Gold chokes in .670 for 67.99 available right now.

Any advice which way to lean on this? I plan on using 3" Hevi blend, or hevi shot 6
Thank you for any advice

I think you will be fine with the 665  if your shooting mostly no. 5 and 6 shot lead or copper plated..If your shooting mostly hevi-shot .. i think you will like the 670 or 675 better.. just has a lot to do with what shell your wanting to use the most..

Ok, thanks for the replies. Looks like a .665 IC is in my future

What length barrel?
The answer will vary depending on your answer.
I have recently patterned both a Winchester SX3 Longbeard XR with a 24" barrel and a Browning Maxus with a 26" barrel.
Indian Creek was not the best in either and both shot best patterns with different choke tubes and different constrictions.
That said every gun is different so my results are merely a suggestion based on my own range experience.

I had a browning maxus shooting a ic .665 with 3inch long beard #6 and got about 160 pellets in the 10 at 40.....your gun should get about the same if not more with the heavy shells.

indian creek makes great chokes. just a thought , before you buy give sumtoy a call . William will send you a choke and if you are not happy he will work with you until you are completely satisfied. his chokes are a little more expensive but the little extra money is well worth the customer service and satisfaction. if you decide not to buy from him , the conversation and his advice is worth it. I own both sumtoy and indian creek and again both are great. my .665 sumtoy is in my benelli 12ga and a indian creek .555 is in my benelli 20 ga. good luck.

If you call Indian Creek they will do the same thing (swap out chokes) until you find what is best for your gun.  They are hunters as well and shoot Browning Maxus guns or at least they did a couple of seasons ago when they helped me out.
They make great chokes I have just found better patterning chokes in both guns I have shot the IC choke tube through to date.
Like I said above every shotgun is going to be a little different.  I got a gun safe of patterned shotguns to prove it even though I can't explain it or even understand it to be honest.
Only way to know is to shoot as many loads and choke tubes as you can to see what combo YOUR gun likes best.
