Ok guys for the life of me I cannot get my head high enough off the gun to see thru any for of optic on this older 835. I have the correct weaver base, a new mueller quick shot, and have put an entire bear tooth comb raising kit on he gun and I am still staring right into the bottom of the lens on the sight. I know I am welding my cheek properly but what he heck, do I need to raise my head literally 2 inches off the gun to get this to work?

I have a Sightmark reflex red dot on my 870 with a regular buttstock.  Its essentially same as the Mueller.  I don't even pay attention to cheek weld, that's the beauty of a red dot.  I'd guess most of the time the bottom side of my jaw is resting against the stock.  Never missed a bird or target yet.  Sounds like if you have to have your cheek welded, may need to look into aftermarket buttstock.

That and I'm thinking it may because of my height and having long arms, I have to scrunch up a bit when properly welding my cheek to the gun. In order to see thru the site I have to literally lift my head which would equal some nasty cheek slap if I shot like that.

god a grip cheek pads will fix that for ya

I have literally put an entire Bear Tooth comb riser kit on here...... Every single pad it comes with stacked up... my eye still will not line up properly with the sight when I have a proper cheek weld.

I ordered some stock drop/rise spacers to see if that will help a bit, if not I guess the stock is just too short for using optics on this older model, my other 835's fit different and I only needed a small raise in the comb height to make it work.
