Not my turkey vest but I left a container of nightcrawler in my fishing vest. This was in my younger days and I threw it in the trunk of my car. Well , a few weeks later , after some 90 degree days my buddies and I couldn't figure out where the funky smell was coming from. After digging around and not finding anything I popped the trunk. The odor hit us like a right hook from Tyson. Next thing I know my one buddy is losing his lunch in the driveway.  Still the worst thing I've smelled to this day. I never did get the odor out of the trunk completely.

One fiber bar that was still good 10 months later.

I've got a hard enough time trying to keep from finding a likely place to empty my bowels, let alone taking along a fiber bar. As for leaving food in a vest, I left a half eaten container of smoked oysters in my squirrel vest along with some cheddar cheese and crackers. The cheese took on life of its own the oysters turned to mush and the crackers just went stale. The aroma was unique but not overbearing. Just blasted it with the hose and let it dry. Still use it today.

I found something bluish green and semi liquid in a ziplock bag in my vest one time. Not sure what it was and I didn't open it to find out. My first thought was giblets, but I always eat them not long after getting home so it couldn't have been that.

I regularly leave Granola Bars in my Turkey vest and my Deer Backpack..

But a couple years ago I went to get my vest to get ready for the season.. and found a real mess.. we had a mouse get into the closet and he chewed through the mesh lined pocket of the vest that the granola bar was in then chewed through the wrapper.. ruined that pocket and left an awful mess.. I went out that day and got a glue trap and stuck a piece of Granola in the middle of it.. I figured he must like it.. I caught him that same night ..

Now my vest has duct tape lining on that pocket :)

I now try to remember to remove any Granola Bars after the season..

This does sound very disgusting. I would just have thrown the whole thing in the trash.......

Uncle Tom

Went over TT's other day and he was out back standing in outhouse (for you too young to
remember..an outside toilet) and door was open and TT just standing there facing the
"Johnny hole"....well I walk up and ask TT what he doing with that little fishing pole
dangling it down in the johnny hole....he said he dropped his jackert down in here and
trying to get it out....I said "You can't use it when you get it out...he said  "Yea, but I got a
sandwich in the pocket!".....Mel Tillis...ole stuttering Mel...told that story once and
I akways thought that best one ever heard....nothing to do with turkeys but think of it as
you working that mouth call as ole big boy getting closer and guarantee you will swallow it!
