Please help me identify these sights

The photos show aftermarket sights that were on a used Super Black Eagle Benelli that I purchased recently.

I have not seen this type of sight before...I use Tru Glo Magnum Gobble Stopper adjustable sights on most of my turkey guns.  These are not adjustable for windage and elevation, unless very minor by shimming.

I haven't done any pattern test work yet to see if these shoot to point of aim...just curious if anyone knows what they are.

I have a set of the Tru Glo's I can put on if needed.

Thanks,
Honcho

I believe they are TruGlo brand, just not adjustable like you mentioned.

The infamous star dot-highlander-colonial sight

You can adjust windage slightly by playing with set screws

That's too cool!  I just sold my Star Dot choke so  I'm back in the club.

Im not familiar with them but if they don't work out for ya and you decide to sell them  I may be interested.

I've seen some like that before, on an overpriced 11-87 turkey gun in a gunshop. I didn't particularly care for them.

The set screws will mar up your rib on the side but they are rock solid. Colonial had them for sale on their site a few years ago; I tried to order another set but they never shipped them and didn't have much to say about their unavailablity when I called. There are a few for sale on eBay.

They were already on the SBE when I bought it so there are already small marks on the rib from the set screws.

I took them off to clean up and oil the barrel and rib. I will give them a try to see how the POI is.

Thanks for all the info.

The original Star Dot sights made by Highlander Sports were some of the best and one of the first open fiberoptic shotgun sights.  Although the Star Dots lack the finite adjustment as on a Williams Firesight, I've mounted several dozen sets on various turkey guns w/ a variety of red/green dot combinations.  Adjusting the windage is fairly straightforward w/ left/right movement via the set screws (I did have to file the inside of both the front and rear sights/ opposing sides, for proper POA/POI once).  Elevation adjustments were made by inserting inert plastic sleeves of various thickness under the sights to obtain proper POA/POI. Sometimes it was a little time consuming ie. shoot/ adjust-shoot/adjust, but when compared to a simple front bead or even double beads, the sight picture afforded by the Star Dots was a real improvement.  I have never ascribed to the "aim low, it shoots high" or worse "aim high, it shoots low" theories with any rifle or shotgun, since I hunt w/ too many different guns and most importantly, when I get real excited my brain turns to mush and I want all my guns to shoot POA/POI for those reasons.

Thanks decoykrvr...good info on the installation to meet POA.   I'm like you I want all my guns shooting the same POA.

Got the SBE sighted in last weekend with the StarDot sights. Shimmed front sight up with four shims made from an aluminum can I found laying nearby. (Brought scissors with me to make shims)

243 in 10" at 40 with Jellyhead .655 and 3 1/2" Win LB 6's.

Got my new Jebs.655 yesterday and will try it with 3" Mag Blends and 3 1/2" Longbeards next warm day.
