Some of my Recent Short Boxes

I have been asked what I have recently picked up. Here are the short boxes. The first is a left-handed one sider from Ed Terefencko in Snakewood over wormy Chestnut. Simply stunning to see in person. The second is a Maple over mineral Poplar from Mike Lapp. The third is a Purpleheart over Butternut from Al & Josh Shoemaker. You guys know I have an addiction for these things and I just cannot imagine short boxes any better than these three. All I can say is that I ran a lot at Nashville and these are the three new ones at my house.

Great calls Rickey, congratulations.  I've had a couple of the field grade boxes from Al and Josh for a while now and they are great sounding calls.  But I received one of their premium grade calls (like yours in the photo) a couple weeks ago.  It has a jatoba lid and a limba box.  I'm just amazed at the craftsmanship in that call, the quality of the wood, and the sounds it produces.

I am pretty sure I ran that SS Purple Heart over Butternut in Nashville or another one just like it.  It was a killer box and I was kicking myself Saturday night for not buying it.  Congrats on some fine calls.

Ricky glad you like the calls you picked up its was a pleasure to meet you Bruce and David at the convention I enjoyed spending time with you and was very happy to see Bruce with a smile on his face and dang man David is one tall man or maybe I am just short  haha It was good to meet ya's
