I know this has come up in the past but,I've got several different types of decoys and I've got ask simply because I don't care for carrying them all around. I know that some will say it doesn't matter and others will have strong opinions one way or the other. I've used the old featherflex foam type in the past. No problems. Switched to Cherokee sports inflatables. They were awesome as far as portability goes. Not exactly the bees knees in the durability category though. Got an HS decoy last year (suzie snood I believe) as well as an avian x. Found the avian to be the better of the two for portability purposes. Got to see the avian breeder at the outdoor show. Liked the looks of it.

I've mentioned all of this because my intentions are to get down to just a few decoys. Plan to sell the rest or just give them to my nephew or other young hunters getting started. Is it worth getting the jake and breeding hen to round out the avian flock or just use the Cherokee inflatable I've got with the avian hen I've already got? If I were to get another avian hen, would it be best to get the breeder or the feeder? Seems the feeder is so low to the ground that she's going to be hard to see from any kind of distance if working birds across an open field. Just wondering. Thanks in advance.

I may not be using the same "brand" as you and it may be that I don't have to carry as far but my 2 essential decoys I use are #1 my strutter and #2 upright hen, (there is a lot to learning how to hunt a strutter "right" IMO. I also have in the mix a feeding hen (which I use a lot), leading hen and a jake. I like to mix them up at times and it does depend on when the hunt is and where, in the timber I really don't use a decoy unless it is open (oak savannah, pastured). But they are deadly in the field! If running and gunning I use my Jake/Hen combo, they fit in a single bag for easy transport and setup.

I've got a stutter but rarely use him besause it's a pain to carry any kind of distance. Had him for quite some time and I bet I've only hunted him 2-3 times.

Get a Jake decoy for sure.  I  am all about portability and quick setup.  I used a Montana alert hen last year and liked it.  I got the feeder on Friday.  I personally like feeders because they look more relaxed
