Fastfire III, 3 or 8 MOA recommended?

Have decided on the FF III for my 870 Super Mag.  I have glaucoma and cataracts, both of which are being treated, but at 30 yards out, things seem a bit indistinct.

Any advice from experience - 3 MOA or the larger 8 MOA?  I think the larger red dot might be much bigger than a turkey head, though probably easier for me to see the dot.  Smaller dot is probably appropriate for a turkey head, but could I see it?

Any experience with this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

PEHunter

I use an 8 MOA and don't have any issues with it.  The dot is around 3.5 inches at 40 yards, so I use it to estimate the range against the size of the birds head and neck.  The bigger dot will probably be easier to pick up in the woods against the dry leaves on the ground.

I think there are a few other threads on here about this subject that would probably be of interest to you.  Good luck and let us know how it works out.

I'd think that either would be fine.  I only have the 3 MOA model, but it's really easy to see.

If your vision is "indistinct', I would go with the 3.  If it's slightly blury, it will appear larger.

I have the 8, wish I had gotten the three.  I would prefer the dot to not obscure the head and so I would prefer the smaller dot.  Now having said that, I would also get the Vortex sight instead.  The Vortex has several more brightness settings which is useful and it is still capable of using Burris bases and the protector.  That compatibility is a nice feature.

3 for me no question. The 8 is way to big IMO

Does the vortex fit in a speed bead mount do you know??

I run an 8 on mine. I found the 3 to be too small.

I cant say for sure 100% however I do know the vortex fits on the protector mount as wel as a picatinny mount so I have to assume it will work but without first hand knowledge I cant say 100%.
