Based on feel the front runner for me is the A5, I'll try to get my hands on an M2 to check out though, they're more scarce around these parts so I haven't seen any of them.

I haven't had a chance to handle an A5 yet but the left handed M2 20 is the best feeling shotgun I've ever shouldered.

I have a beretta al 391 urika 12 that is the best shotgun I've ever owned. It shoots poa with the beads too

I really like the idea of a 20, but I'll likely stick with a 12 gauge because this will be my go to shotgun.

*Edit: It is worth mentioning that where I am the A5 comes in about $500 cheaper than the Benellis.

Wow

How does the a5 feel in relation to the affinity, m2, sbe?

These are guns I really like the feel of. The brown gold and silver are a couple guns I ain't too crazy about the feel of

A5 feels the most balanced to me. SBE felt awkward, which I find most Benellis do when I handle them. My brother has a Super Nova which is a really nice gun, but it always feels like I'm wielding a fencepost whenever I pick it up. It would make a good dedicated turkey gun, but feels awkward for me to swing. For me based on feel it goes A5, Vinci, SBE2 and Maxus pretty much tied. Haven't been able to handle an M2, I will when I get the chance though. I'm not sold on the Franchis just because they seem to be a more "entry level" Benelli, which I understand the market for, but if I'm going to spend $1600 I might as well drop the other $300 and get the real deal. Just my opinion of course.

I loved the way the maxus feels but scoping or using a red dot with a Maxus is a nightmare. Browning uses a proprietary scope base and an odd size base screw.   Having a custom rail made is difficult because finding the odd size screws is nearly impossible. The scope base is relieved so that only two slots are on the base. This means you can only use a scope or a red dot that uses two rings and is long enough to allow the use of two rings.  I tried having EGW make a base but after months of trying to deal with them I got tired of them blowing me off.  I eventually gave up trying to put an optic on my Maxus and went back to my sbe2. No regrets.
The Maxus is a great gun ands patterns amazing but just understand that if you want an optic on it it is not well designed.   In hindsight I should have just bought an SX3 and saved money.

After much handling and searching I ended up with an A5 hunter. It came down to the Super Vinci and the A5, but the A5 won out. Thanks for your input folks!

Think you made a great choice...I made the mistake of picking one up in the gun store. Luckily I got out of there before I told them to wrap it up!
They handle really well, are light and ergonomically, for me, couldn't be better!

UPDATE!!!:

Still very much a fan of the A5, BUT, I did get it in 3 inch. I don't see a lot of need for 3.5, seems a little ridiculous to me. I did tell myself that after getting the walnut 3 inch A5 my next will be a composite 3.5 inch gun. So after doing some shooting with the A5, and more handling of the SBE II an Super Vinci, the SBE II really, really started to grow on me.

Then I stumbled across an unfired SBE II for 1200 bucks... I don't have any pictures of it, because it's currently in transit to my place  :z-guntootsmiley:

I have the A5 in 3" and I really like it. I run a Rhino .670 and it patterns #4's all the way to mag blend really well.  I will say this. I bought my son an M2 in 20 ga  last spring and I have fell in love with that gun. I'm thinking very seriously about trading the A5 in on an M2 in 12 ga.    Of the 3 or 4 that you mentioned, all will serve you well. Hold em all and whichever gun felt the best is the one I would go with.  Again.... the M2 is hard to beat(if you don't want a 3.5").    Good luck.

Now that I own the A5 and SBE II, I can tell you I like both, a LOT. I don't really need both, so I'd kind of like to sell one, but I wouldn't be able to decide which one. Guess I'll just keep them.   :funnyturkey:
